5,848 new Covid cases & 5,820 recoveries today in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: 5,848 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Kerala today along with 5,820 patient recoveries. 5,137 were cases of local transmission and the contact source for infection was not traceable in 613 cases. There were 45 medical and para-medical personnel among those infected. Meanwhile, 32 recent deaths in the State were confirmed as due to Covid taking the death toll to 2,390.

60,503 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 9.67%. A total of 65,56,713 samples have been sent for testing till now.

The numbers for the new positive cases from the districts are Malappuram 920, Kozhikode 688, Ernakulam 655, Kottayam 567, Thrissur 536, Kollam 405, Palakkad 399, Alappuzha 365, Thiruvananthapuram 288, Kannur 280, Wayanad 258, Pathanamthitta 208, Idukki 157 and Kasargod 112. Of those diagnosed with the disease, 53 have come here from outside the state.

The count for those infected through contact in the districts are Malappuram 880, Kozhikode 645, Ernakulam 509, Kottayam 561, Thrissur 518, Kollam 400, Palakkad 198, Alappuzha 338, Thiruvananthapuram 195, Kannur 244, Wayanad 246, Pathanamthitta 173, Idukki 121 and Kasaragod 109.

The tally of the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Thiruvananthapuram 7, Ernakulam & Kannur 6; Thrissur, Kozhikode & Wayanad 5, Palakkad 4, Malappuram 3, and Kollam & Kasaragod 2.

The district-wise figures for the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 337, Kollam 410, Pathanamthitta 268, Alappuzha 551, Kottayam 588, Idukki 88, Ernakulam 492, Thrissur 590, Palakkad 405, Malappuram 1023, Kozhikode 460, Wayanad 148, Kannur 288 and Kasaragod 172.

There are 61,393 patients currently undergoing treatment while a total of 5,67,694 people have so far recovered from Covid in the State.

There are 3,15,024 people totally under isolation now across the state – 2,99,962 under home or institutional quarantine and 15,062 in hospitals. 1,721 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.

The number of hotspots in the state remains at 444 as two new places were demarcated as hotspots while two areas were excluded.
